So much Mumbai
note: this was acrtually published a day late.... not much happned since then. we took it easy for most of the day then went to the engagement tonoght. no new pictures.
At this point it is feeling like there can't be much more to see (though that certainly isn't true). I'd love to say we better understand India, or even Mumbai by now, but the more time we spend here the more we realize just how foreign it is.
The day before yesterday we went to the Sanjay Ghandi National Park, visiting the Kenari Caves and going on the "lion and tiger safari". The caves were especially amazing, having been carved out of the mountain by hand (pic 1), but the lions and tigers were neat too. After that we visited a few more beaches and called it a day.
Yesterday we took the boat from the Gateway of India to Elephanta Island. Saw some more cave ruins (pic 2) and Kelly was in a monkey stampeed. The monkeys there were especially mischevious, stealing food from anyone they could (pic 3).
Today we went to the Hare Krishna temple, which was done up with flowers and banana trees for a festival, got preached to for a while, and missed lunch with Pushkar. After that we went to Madh Island (pic 4) which was a nice break from the hustle of Mumbai.
